There has been a hunt date cancellation for a semi-guided hunt. These hunts are unguided, but you still have the benefit of a staffed camp with hearty home cooked meals and game retrieval. Hunt prices are $1500/person. Two hunters minimum and 4 hunters max. The outfitter sponsored guaranteed license is $995.

Time has flown so fast and it is already mid February. Only 1 month until the Montana license deadline of March 17th.
<br /><br />
We have a few openings for the year, but mostly we want to keep in touch with you and let you know what we offer. Perhaps a hunt or pack trip is in the future for you. We would like to think so. Email or call us anytime.
<br /><br />
We are a small family outfit and do most everything ourselves. Occasionally, we hire an extra guide. We specialize in the backcountry hunts as that is where our heart is, in the mountains. We have gentle stock that will transport you from trailhead to camp and to different points in the hunting area. I wouldn't consider the hunting terrain to be too steep just lots of it and it can be strenuous as there is a lot of downfall from previous year's wildfires. Our small cozy camp is at 7400 ft elevation. Be sure to be in good physical shape to enjoy your hunting trip to the fullest.
<br /><br />
Last year, we took 4 archery hunters and two rifle hunters. All had a great time with 3 harvesting bull elk.
<br /><br />
2008 Montana license fees are:<br />
$1500 for the elk/deer guaranteed outfitter sponsored<br />
$1400 for elk guaranteed outfitter sponsored <br />
$643 elk/deer combo general draw (40% draw success rate)

If you or your close family members and friends are not hunters - NO PROBLEM!! We know how to enjoy Mother Nature to the fullest. <br />
In the summer, we take horseback pack trips. These are basically camping trips full of beautiful scenery and serene places to fish in the backcountry. These trips are laid back and peaceful.......a time to reflect with family and friends over the campfire or a hearty home cooked meal in a Dutch oven.

If you love the tranquil winter landscape, seeing herds of elk at dawn, huge bighorn rams and the elusive mountain lion.......then we think a photo safari may be what you are looking for. We will travel the areas by hiking, snowmobile and 4x4 viewing the abundant wildlife and majestic scenery the Philipsburg valley has to offer. You can always top off a great trip with a couple days skiing at Discovery Basin. <a href="http://www.skidiscovery.com" target="_blank">www.skidiscovery.com</a> Philipsburg's own small, non crowded ski area. Now that's a refreshing thought for the perfect winter mini getaway.

Weather has been warm here; up to 50 degrees and very sunny. The snow has been melting, so this allows for some outdoor projects to be done.

If you are planning to hunt elk and deer in Montana this year, don't forget the <b>license deadline of March 15, 2007</b>. This deadline is the same for the general draw or the outfitter guaranteed sponsored licenses. Montana has an online licensing system for convenience and last minute applications.

We are located in the Sapphire Mountains of Southwestern Montana. The Sapphire Mountains split the Bitterroot and the Philipsburg Valleys running north and south and tee into the Anaconda Pintlar Wilderness which runs east and west. Our comfortable main camp is located at 7400 feet elevation. It is a two hour horse ride in from the trailhead.

The 2007 hunting season looks to be a good one. All rifle hunt dates are full and only a couple archery dates are still open.

<li>October 6 -11</li>
</ul>
Price is $2500 per person for a 2:1 hunt and $3000 for a 1:1 hunt. We only take 2 hunters per date. We strive for quality and not quantity.

The elk in our area seem to rut a bit later than other areas of Montana. We personally prefer to hunt in October if we are not guiding anyone, and we've been very successful in the years past. The elk will be bugling and the mornings will be frosty. The afternoons will see sunny and warmer temperatures in the mid 40's to 50's. There could even be some snow. Last year we had 4 inches of snow on the 16th of September.
