Bob Marshall
« on: July 07, 2017, 11:52:11 AM »
I was planning on a trip into the Bob Marshall.  I was wanting to go through Switchback Pass to Pentagon Mountain.  I was wondering if there is much grass for the horses or if I should just plan on packing pellets for them.  I have never been in this part of the Bob so any info would be great.  Thanks for your help.

It's been a good Spring, as far as rain goes, in Western Montana.  My hay field was shoulder high before it was cut.  I'd think the grass would be good all over the Bob Marshal.  I'm not familiar with that Mountain you mentioned, though.  There are some big pack strings in places.  It might get grazed off by some other stock, before you get there.

Right now the hot dry weather has me worried.....I hope the trails don't get shut down with fire danger.  I want to go hunting in the Bob, in September.
