2014 Mule Deer hunt
« on: November 09, 2014, 03:20:48 PM »
Had a great trip into huge area that has been roadless for 10-12 years that used to get pounded until they closed the road access, born and raised hunting the country but it got pounded by road hunters leading to me quitting the area for a number of years as you are about to see age structure is coming back since it's foot or horseback travel only!!  We had a great trip taking some nice muleys, the buck I took was definitely not a scoring deer like the 200" buck I killed 2 years ago but man I couldn't pass on him, the others were really happy with theirs as well!  It was great having packhorses nowadays to get them out of some rough country it would be almost impossible without!  Hope you enjoy the pics

First 3 pics are of the old buck I took with a 25-06 Ackley Imp built on a 700 action with a DouglaS supreme barrel and a Jewell trigger  shooting a 115 gr Berger VLD and a 6-24 Oculus scope with turrets.  The next was taken by my brother in law his Muley he shot it with a 190 gr VLD out of a Browning A bolt in the 300 wsm, the last buck was taken by another brother in law with a 6.5 x 284 Cooper Arms with a 140 gr VLD with a  vortex 4-16 pst at 472 yds in his bed

Looks like you guys had a dandy hunt. One day I'll figure out how to post pictures on this site and share some from our northern hunts.

Killerbee it is a general unit and public but they closed road access in the whole area and it takes some work to get in and most people just aren't gonna walk far enough or use stock!

Awsome deal, I wish they would do a bunch more of this road closing in AZ. Way Way Way too much FR here, its really bad.
