ELK DRAW CYCLES 2015
« on: March 31, 2015, 08:56:02 PM »
Ok guys and gals so how did we all do in our draws this year? My family got the shaft for sure, I had 7 family members on my credit card and we had 5 applications for resident AZ elk hunts and zero tags???? We are new to this game but I am thinking hunter retension and recruitment is out the window for my family anyway. LOL I have been in 6 years now and my kids 3. Very frustrating. I was lucky in the fact that my hunting partner got his early archery bull tag in a trophy unit after 9 years. I will be outfitting the hunt for him so at least I will be in the woods with a purpose. Good luck to all.

I put in for an area that is 100% draw.  I always wonder if I filled the application out right.  So, if I did that I should draw a tag.  The only problem is that it's not very good hunting.  I hope to kill a bull in there anyhow, if I put enough time in.

Ya for me I am putting in for a hard to draw hunt so I am not surprised when I dont draw. I have never had an elk tag but I do know exactly what I want my hunt to be so I will not compromise on my pick. All the rest of my family I had in for cow hunts but still no tags.

Still waiting for draw results which will be mid May at least. Mostly I put infor easy to draw cow hunts.I'm too old to build prefernce points and I have killed enough of those stinky, tough, old bulls anyway.

Steve I put in for the same unit. We got into some bulls there last year archery hunting. My buddy got a small rag horn bull there last rifle season.

Man, that sounds good Saddle Sore.  A moose tag is almost impossible to draw in Montana.  A buddy of mine did kill a dandy moose over in the Big Hole last year.  I'm not sure how he drew that tag.  Another friend puts in for moose, sheep, and goat every year.  He has drawn a couple of goat tags over the years but no sheep or moose tag.  He's now almost 65.  That's a lot of years applying.

I applied for 16 years Steve. Finally was about to give up as I am72 this summer. There is this one ranch that offers a few tags to the public thru a program with the Wildlife Dept. in return for better options. They only give out two tags, and provide a guide and get moose out for no charge .

I knew I would never draw a bull tag ,so I put in for a cow and even at that there was only a 1% chance I would get it
