One heck of a season so far.
« on: November 12, 2015, 09:38:30 AM »
In CO, a person can buy two elk tags. I had muzzle loader  cow tag for early Sept ,and an either sex elk tag for the2nd rifle season starting Oct 17.

However, I also drew a muzzle loader deer tag that  was for the week before the 2nd rifle season and one of  two cow moose tags for the Ranching for Wildlife program here in Colorado. That tag was for the same dates as the 2nd rifle season.

I didn't score on the muzzle loader elk tag, but did on the deer tag. One week later , I killed the cow moose on the 1st day in about 15 minutes after legal shooting hours. I got the moose home on Sunday  and got it in the cooler , then I left on Monday for the rifle elk hunt..

I killed a raghorn bull first thing Tuesday morning.

I still have a late December hunt for antelope.

Only the elk.The ranch that I shot the moose on did not permit horses or mules. Luckily we were able to drive close enough to pull it out of the bogs.
The deer was a whitetail  and small compared to a muley. We were not far from a road in a SWA so we just carried it a short distance

That's awesome!  Moose meat is the best wild game I've ever had!
