How to tie the Packers Knot
« on: May 06, 2007, 09:07:47 PM »

These pictures are taken with the packers knot on a basket hitch.  First snug up your load then put a loop over the rope of your basket hitch.  I like to keep the tail of the rope on the right hand side.

Cross the loop under your vertical rope of the basket hitch.

Pull tight and hold tension with your left hand.

Reach through the loop and grab the tail with your right hand.

Pull on tension side of loop until knot is tight.

Make your loop small enough so that is does not snag on anything,

and throw a half hitch on it.

Guess I never knew it as a packers knot. We always called it throwing a couple half hitches on the loop
