Hello everyone. My name is John and I'm from North Carolina. I'm signed up for the 5 week class this spring and can't wait to get out to montana!  I'm originally from New York and have only lived in NC for a year now. I've grown up hunting whitetail, turkey and various small game. I love being outdoors and hope to make guiding my career, because I could never be a desk job sort of guy. I hope to learn a ton at school in spring and get to know everyone on this forum well.

Thanks steve. I will deffintaly stay in touch and let you know how it goes. I have no doubt in my mind that it will be anything less than amazing. I'm steadily preparing myself by reading everything on this forum and other forums on hunting. I also train 4-5 days a week in the gym and have been for months now to prepare for all the hiking and work I know I will endure.

Any advice from anyone on what I should do to prepare is greatly appreciated. I want to be well prepared when I get out there

Thanks!

I hear ya on that. I do well at calling in turkey and white tail but I don't have any experience with elk I will admit. I did see the post about elk nuts dvds and play book. I'm gonna order the dvd set that includes the playbook. From now untill april I'm going to be cramming as much as possible about elk and western hunting into my brain haha

from the sounds of it , you guys are on the right track.   hunting is addicting, guiding is paying for the habit;)

heck ya, get in shape, get rid of anything that will hold you back, and you will have a carrer that you'll never regret.

as far as the forum goes , ASK ANYTHING!  you'll get answers.

oh and WELCOME to the camp fire
