Hello from Kansas

Hi everyone, I'm Alex and I'm from Kansas.
I just started hunting about 2 years ago and absolutely fell in love with it. I get out every chance I can to hunt during the season and if it's not during the season, I will go scouting. My first year deer hunting was last year and saw a few but never had a clean shot. Same thing this year when I went bowhunting. Might take a doe if I see one tomorrow.
I spent some time in Alaska this summer working with State Parks as a volunteer Ranger Assistant. I had a great time when I was able to get away and go hiking. I had planned on moving up there, but I was only getting $300 a month and that goes quickly in Alaska. Plus, I had a few bills to pay off back home. So, I came back to the same job I hated so much working retail at a department store.
Anyways, I'll be attending the April '10 class. I am very excited and will continue to work very hard to prepare, as I know it won't be easy. I figured there is nothing better than doing what you love and loving what you do, which is why I want to be a hunting guide.

The best part is, I used to want to become an oral surgeon. I only wanted to do it for the money ($500k a year +). Now, money isn't an issue. Obviously, I want to make money so I can support myself and become a successful businessman, but it's not my top priority anymore. I know that becoming a guide, I would likely take a pay cut my first few years out from my current retail job, which is fine, because I absolutely
hate
being inside all day!
Off to go whitetail hunting now.
