This is a great site for you.  Check in with Ernie McKenzie goes by the handle Hornseeker.  He makes the Sapphire Haxk bow.

I built a take down recurve with two sets of limbs.  It turned out great.  I couldn't have done it without the help of Bingham's in Utah.  I used their video directions and plans.  Not only did I end up with a great bow, it was down right fun making that bow.  Many old bowyers will tell you that you shouldn't start with a project that big, for your first home built bow.  I think that if you are handy with tools you can build a bow just like I did.

I'd like to one day build most all of my archery hunting equipment.  I've built some cedar arrows, but I usually hunt with aluminum.  I've never used a long bow, but I'd like to give one a try.....
