March Tip.

I was going to talk about knowing your weapon, but since that was taken I am going to make this month's tip about being a decent person....  The GOLDEN RULE is "Treat all people how you want to be treated".  IMHO this is the ONLY way to be successful in all of life's endevours.  Even if you disagree with a person there is NO reason to attack personally, keep all of your discussions professional and "clean" and you will be better off for it.  Please remember that you do not know the path the other has trod and you do not know the path you will trod in the future so a little bit of tolerance goes a long way, and remember that you have 2 ears and 1 mouth so you should be doing twice as much listening as you are talking..............   Have a great March

 Great tip Badger!
  We had a guy working for us for quite some time, he was an excellent hand, had a good work ethic, knew the country and the stock.  Unfortunatly for him and us, he was lacking in the people skills department (kind of the leave me alone type) which out weighed his skills by a good margin. I wish he could have turned that around, he could really grind out work.  Sometimes one persons additude can have a heavy burden on a work crews moral and or guest experence.

I'll bet when you are a guide and outfitter you need great patience.  I've known people in that line of work who gave it up after a while, because they didn't like many of their clients.  Yet there are people like Howard Copenhaver who had the highest respect for most people he guided, even after years of that line of work.

I once rodeo'd with a guy who was a guide and outfitter.  He was a great guy, but tended to be hot headed, and you didn't want him mad at you.  One of his clients was complaining so much that he ended up actually banging the guys head on a log.  At least that was the way he told the story.  And then after doing that he told the guy, "Are we now going to hunt your way, or my way!"

Anyone ever heard of Billy Stockton?  I could tell a bunch more stories about him.  The scary thing is, most of these stories are true.  Billy has been riding at old timers rodeos way too long.  He's well into his 60's.  He got bucked off a bronc this past Fall.  He landed on his head and was unconscious for weeks.  When he woke up, he was blind.  The fall severed both his optic nerves.  Billy may be blind, but I'll bet he's still a tough old fart.

But getting back to your original thread, Badger.  Those are good words to live by.  I'm having major problems right now, with one of my bosses.  Your words are helping me cope...Did I mention I have problems with authority!

Don't discuss politics and religion "rule" is one we also have for our dog club.  Good thing too.
