trout fishing ?

Over here where i live we pretty much just have stocked creeks with rainbows. You can fly fish but would do better not to. I was wondering if anyone who lives or fishes out west has ever used trout power bait the stuff that comes in the jar. I also like to use a powerbait plastic trout worm its about inch an half to two inches, basically a straight worm i find it works better then powerbait in the jar. I plan on fly fishing when im out that way i was more wondering for like survival kit type use, cause i mean these lures catch em for me if there are fish in the creek you will catch them with these. I maiinly use chartruse sometimes white.  If anyone has used these or know of any who has out west on wild trout would like to hear your input
