Opening day sat. a blast!! my dad and i went out day break and heard tons of turkeys gobbling but couldnt get any to come in. then we decided to go to this spot where we always see turkeys feeding we hiked for about a mile and then stopped for a break. Just to see what would happen my dad blew the crow call and to our surprise there were turkeys maybe 40 yards away over the next little hill so the break saved us from spooking them. We immediatley got into position with my dad 10 yards behind me we began calling and got a response i was a nervous wreck by the time the lead hen came over the hill two minutes later it was clucking away trying to find the source it stopped 2 feet from me i was shaking like a leaf as the gobblers came strutting over the hill (two nice sized gobblers) they strutted maybe 30 yards to the right i could have gotten a perfect shot but the hen would not go away finally they went off we did not get anything but it was a blast and its not always about the kill most fun i had in a loong time.

Very cool!  I took my 14 year old out weekend before last and had a gobbler come struttin in with two hens.  He was so close we could here him spittin and drummin, but we could only see his fan over a slight rise about 25 yards out and he would not leave the two hens.  I really thought my boy was going to kill his first gobbler.  But when we got up to move he had a BIG ol grin that told me how much fun he was having!!
