campfire omelettes

Saw this on another site and it sounded good.
If you can boil water, prepare to astound everyone in your group.
Once the fire is going, put a large pot of water on to boil. Of course you can use your camp stove or even do this at home for special occasions.
You’ll need Ziplok freezer bags, eggs and your favorite omelet fillings.
Crack a couple eggs into the Ziplok, squish the eggs around, add shredded cheese, diced onions, peppers, ham, smokies, whatever floats your boat. 6 people??? Everyone can have exactly what they want.
Take the air out of the bag and place into boiling water. Sit back looking smug while you enjoy your coffee.
THIRTEEN MINUTES later, remove from water, cut open the bag and the omelet will roll out, done to perfection. Everyone will be thoroughly impressed. No sticks or ashes, no burnt egg smell and you can use the boiled water to wash the dishes.

Hey Cody, i have been cooking omeletts that way for years. It works perfectly every time and the best part is that all the people have exacly what they want in them. The other great thing is that everyone eats at the same time. I have actually cooked 12 omeletts at once in a 3 gal stock pot. One tip i will give is to use a sharpie to write your names on the bag so you can give it to the proper "Chef" when finished. You can even add the salsa if you like. I love to eat and a 3 egg omelett w/ the trimmings is all i need for breakfast. They are great.

I like this one for sure!
I could have used it a month ago when we were camping with some friends. I'll use it next time though.

i'm going into my kitchen right now and make myself an omelette this way!!! Next week-end I'll make these up with my friends as we are planning a camp up the Northfork Flathead River.(unless the Forest Service decides to close the woods)... Kristin.

So what do you put in RVB?
Anyone else tried this? We tried it last week and it worked pretty good. I also wondering about freezing them first and then trying them.

3 eggs, grated cheese, lots of hot peppers, onion, tomatos. I save the ham, sausage and bacon to eat seperate. Some prefer to dice or crumble these last items and put them in there also. I have never thought of freezing them, let me know how it works out.

They work great. I made a bunch up, froze them and sent them into hunting camp.

I had the pleasure of eating some of these omelets made with egg beaters. LeRee made these up before our hunt and Todd fixed them for breakfast. I highly recommend them for taste, cleanup, ease of preparation, and an all round healthy meal.
