LeRee & Cody,

You posted some some great info on (re)seasoning cast iron cookware which i have used.  Any suggestions for seasoning a cast aluminum dutch oven?

funny story:   last year we were hunting in montans and a buddy that lives there met us and hunted with us for the week. so one night we all made a big fat dinner we made the steaks he made potatoes and??  anyway later one of my freinds from here that went with us decided to be a good camper and wash all the groups dishes. so after he was all done doing the dishes the guy who lives there came looking for his 2 cast iron skillets just to find  the other buddy had just give them a good washing with dawn dish soap Cheesy Cheesy kinda funny

Thats a good way to put LeRee over the edge, grab her cast iron skillet in one hand and the dish soap in the other. Grin

Thanks LeRee.  If that's the case, do you wash them with soap to clean or treat like cast iron?

Grey Eagle

I don't even own aluminum cast. I've only had to use it a handful of times working for outfitters. The river outfitters like it because of weight. Yes, you'd wash it.
In my opinion it is like a real packer thinks of a sawbuck pack saddle, it's only good for firewood.
