Extend one or both of your loops from your packers knot and take under the front dee.

Place skull cap in front of front dee and put loops over the top.

Pull tightly on both sides.

You may have to go back and forth a couple of times to get them really tight.

Take the tail of your rope through the packers ring on your cinch.

Make a half hitch on your trez (third) tine.

Add another half hitch (which makes a clove hitch) and pull tight. Again, you may have to go from side to side a couple of times if you are alone.

You are good to go! On large racks, it may be neccesary to cut a small sapling and tie to the back pad of your pack saddle. This will keep the tines from poking your mule and may also help to protect from breaking the skull cap.
