DAY 21 - Sunday, June 22 Today was a BLAST! We practiced our hunting skills. First, Cody and John hid 17 elk and deer racks out in the brush. We had one hour each to see how many we could find. It was excellent glassing practice. Then we had to bugle in the instructors. We had two hunters with us (fellow students), we had to set them up and bugle in a bull. Boy, the instructors sure made good elk. They would even run off if we were being too noisy or the wind was wrong. Next, we had to practice stalking. The two instructors sat back to back in a thicket and we had to see how close we could get before they saw us. It was great practice. Cody says on the pack trip, we will be going over a lot more hunting techniques, elk habits, stalking and glassing real game. Can’t wait!
